Makey-Makey:

Coding: In this MAC time, we will be learning how to code and control a computer!  We will be playing and designing video games as well as learning how to write computer code.  Our project will be a completed video game that will be published on the SCRATCH website.

Hip Hop Genius:  In this MAC Time, students will be learning about the history of Hip-Hop, the art of sampling, DJ techniques and will be creating their own song highlighting famous speeches by influential and important people from history.

Dancing to Dubstep: In this MAC Time you will be EXPLORING, CREATING and PERFORMING a style of dance that will require you to move your body in ways you have never moved before!  Have you ever seen a robot dance?  Do you think you could dance that way?  Dubstep is actually a form of music and not a style of dance.  Dubstep is dance music, typically instrumental, characterized by a sparse, syncopated rhythm and a strong bassline.  It is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in South London, England.

4th Grade Projects

Digital Art: Students in the Digital Art group will be exploring various programs that create art digitally.  Students will be creating a digital portfolio of their artistic inspirations.  Students will present their portfolios to their peers and judges during our last week of MAC Time.

African Drumming, Spirituals, and Work Songs: Students will participate in drum circles, sing call-and-response, create their own rhythmic patterns, and discover more about African cultures. They will then learn how African musical traditions were carried over into America, surviving through spirituals and work songs.

MAC Time Logo Design:  This MAC Time will provide students with the opportunity to become young entrepreneurs.  Students will research effective Logo Designs, have a complete understanding of MAC Time and decide its most essential and important aspects.  Students will also research t-shirt companies and decide which companies can help us create a product for fundraising.

Fingertutting: Finger Tutting, Tutting or Digits as it is sometime referred to is a contemporary abstract interpretive street dance style modeled after Egyptian hieroglyphics. This dance was said to mimic the way the Egyptians would walk and move.  Tutting uses the body's ability to create geometric shapes and movements, usually with right angles.  These shapes and movements are then performed in sync with musical rhythm.  The music often used is Electronic Dubstep.
