I CAN DAYS
Throughout the 2017-2018 school year, students will be participating in several "I Can Days" during their Specials time. These days are designed to have students reflect on what they can do as the year progresses.
I CAN sit in active listening. I CAN show Ago/Ame.
It is important to have quiet bodies while listening so that everyone can pay attention and hear the same story or information. Ago and Ame helps us to know when to be great listeners.
I CAN keep my hands and feet to myself.
It is important to keep our hands and feet to ourselves so that everyone feels safe.
I CAN follow the directions given.
It is important to follow directions, sometimes multiple directions at the same time, sometime verbal and sometimes visual. Directions help us know what is going on, help us learn and help us be safe.
I CAN take turns. I CAN be a leader and Follower.
It is important to take turns, particularly when being a leader and a follower. When we take turns, everyone feels included and no one is left out.
I CAN tell people my passion. I CAN be curious.
It is important to be able to articulate what you are passionate about so that others can share your vision and help you accomplish your dream.
I CAN be a good friend.
It is important to be a good friend. Include new friends when you play. You can have lots of friends if you are kind and include others.
2nd - 5th Grade
I CAN be a part of a team.
It is important to understand the importance of teamwork. Teams share ideas, respect and try each other's ideas, and work together to successfully accomplish a common goal. When you are a part of a team, you can create projects that are better than if you worked alone.
I can accept feedback and learn from others.
It is important to listen to feedback and learn from it so that we can improve our learning and behavior. Criticism is designed to help us learn to be better versions of ourselves.
I can reflect on my progress with my MAC Time Project.
It is important to reflect on the progress of a project so that we can make sure our projects turn out successful. Keeping track of progress using timelines and rubrics will help to make sure that the project turns out as expected.
I can listen to and enjoy a story that uses my imagination.
Enjoying stories such as The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child teach us the magic of storytelling. It is important to just enjoy great stories.
